Blog: Free Hugs

Today was a mixture of excitement and nerves. I had no idea how FREE HUGS was going to go, whether people would just walk past and laugh or whether they would love it. THEY LOVED IT! I loved it, it was amazing when someone wanted a hug and I saw them smile how I instantly felt good. One girl came running up and hugged me then said "oh my god you have made my day". I got a call from TV1 NEWS at about 11am saying they were going to come down to Manners Mall in Wellington, and our Auckland team, and film for tonight's NEWS! That is so awesome my dream of getting Discovery for Teens national promotion is coming to fruition. I had a goal 8 weeks ago of going on a journey to becoming comfortable being uncomfortable and raising the profile of Discovery now it all seems to be happening.

You can watch the video at tvnz.co.nz

Also a massive thank you to Little India who have donated $1000 to Discovery. So I am proud to say we have now raised enough money to fund ONE teen on Discovery. We want to send more to Discovery so how about helping out? I would like to challenge all businesses out there to come on board like Little India and help us make a difference in the lives of teenagers in this country!

A big thank you to all the Discovery for Teens staff and graduates in Auckland, Wellington, Nelson and Christchurch for coming out and supporting FREE HUGS and Discovery. You guys rock!

Remember anyone out there $1 helps so join us and be a part of the 30 Fears community.
Grant
PS. Go and give a friend a hug :-)
